In my adult life, I've seen just about everything happen in the real estate world. There have been good times and bad, to say the least. When people ask me, Jacques Poujade, about winning sales strategies, I try to be as honest as possible.
Even though real estate changes year to year, below are some of my sales tips I use every single day. Put them to work for you, and see the difference.
Prepare for Greatness
The real estate industry is pretty cut throat. There are hundreds if not thousands of people in your area looking for their piece of the pie. Nothing comes easy in anything related to real estate, and real estate sales is no exception.
Think about your brand, not what others are doing. Research more than the competition. Put in the long hours. Real estate isn't particularly difficult, but it tends to reward hard work in the long run.
Network
No one in real estate sales has success without a strong network. Building relationships within a community is a must. Every single family in a community might have real estate needs at some point, and with a huge purchase, they will trust someone they know.
New to an area? Find out ways to volunteer. Be part of a community to have success in that community.
Know Everything About The Area
Another key to real estate sales success is to know everything about your particular area. It doesn't have to an entire city. Focus on communities that might only have 1000-2000 homes to start. Become THE person in that area, on top of every move.
Work with a few clients in the beginning and provide excellent service. In time, referrals will start coming in. All of a sudden, you have a decent area to get consistent work from.
Seek a Mentor
It helps to have friends in the industry instead of nothing but enemies. Even though a lot of people in sales are competing against each other, an older real estate guru can make a great mentor.
Working with a mentor can help in many different ways. It defines a specific path to success. It keeps you on track to reach goals. A young, energetic and hard working person in real estate sales can also rejuvenize the mentor as well, so it is a win-win situation.
Continue Learning
Remember what I said about the real estate world changing so much? In order to stay on top of everything, continuous learning is needed. If I relied on what I learned decades ago about real estate, I'd be out of job.
Learning can be done independently if a person wishes. It can also be done through courses locally or online. There is too much information out there to ignore. Find a little bit of time at least once a month to learn new things. You might end up surprising yourself with just how much things have changed since your last formal course.
